Our New Orleans state-of-the-art facility was founded in 2001 by Dr. Paul da Costa, a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist. His services include treatment and surgery for cataracts, glaucoma, and diseases of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, lens, retina, and orbit. The Eye Center for Animals is equipped with multiple lasers and other cutting-edge equipment for glaucoma shunt surgery, retinal surgery & advanced cataract surgery with lens implants.
Our office is located at 524 Moss Street on Bayou Saint John in "Mid-city" New Orleans. At the Eye Center For Animals we treat each pet that comes through our doors as if it were our own. We have been offering comprehensive veterinary ophthalmic medicine and surgery in Louisiana and surrounding areas since 1996.
We offer comprehensive, state-of-the-art ophthalmic medicine and surgery. Cataract surgery is done with phacoemulsification and lens implants, current with human ophthalmology. Retinal evaluation is done with 10 MHz ultrasound and electroretinogram. Laser surgery for glaucoma, secondary cataracts, and retinal detachment is available. The Eye Center for Animals offers endoscopic intra-ocular lasering for advanced treatment of glaucoma, intraocular tumors and retinal disease. Our ophthalmology practice has both diode and argon lasers for optimal retinal treatment. Our patients include dogs, cats, exotic animals, wildlife, and some large animals.
